I love catching a bee fly on a flower. They tend to perch on the ground instead, where my camera has a hard time focusing on the insect instead of the soil.

Red hopper seen at the forest park of Mountain Haven, Eden, Davao City. Unusual bug, quite small about 5 mm in size only with lang antennae. Taken with my usual set-up Canon 5DMk2 with Kenko c-af 1.4X with Canon mp-e 65mm at 2x; flash c/o Canon macro twinlite 24EX. I …

Green bird grasshopper

The "bird" grasshoppers of the genus Schistocerca are very large insects. This Green Bird Grasshopper, Schistocerca shoshone, was over two inches. They are also very wary. I had to coax this one into position using a small branch.
